Probate Court

Please be advised that state law prohibits the Probate Court and staff from rendering legal advice, restating the law or recommending specific ways to pursue legal action. If you have a problem regarding the interpretation of the law, please contact an attorney licensed to practice in the State of Georgia.

The Probate Court is a court of limited jurisdiction responsible for the probate and administration of estates for Montgomery County residents. The Probate Court also handles misdemeanor traffic citations, game and fish violations, vital records, marriage licenses, firearms licenses, estates, guardianships of minors and incapacitated adults along with numerous miscellaneous duties. It is a court of record, so all documents filed in the Probate Court must be recorded in minute books and kept permanently available to the public.

Traffic Court is held on the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM. Your Court date is listed on your Citation. If you must appear in Probate Court for the charge on your Citation, please arrive before 9:45 AM, dress appropriately and check in with the clerk.

If you are paying a Citation fine and do not have to appear on the violation, you may pay online at EZCourtPay (https://ezcourtpay.com/TixBS/Default.aspx) or call 1-800-262-0128. You will need your Citation number, date of birth, and the jurisdiction which is Montgomery County Probate Court.
